Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for young people infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS. A child's self-acceptance is often made more difficult by the challenges of HIV. Giving young people chances to succeed, learn and grow sends messages that they are in fact special, unique and talented.
Since our establishment in 1998, our main avenue in serving youth, who live in the Heartland, California and the other West Coast states, is through our camping programs. These camps offer many deserving children the opportunity to be encouraged and accepted, build leadership skills, have their character strengths recognized, while creating lasting memories and friendships. Camp Kindle is offered at no cost to the campers or their families (this includes the cost of transportation to and from camp). Everyone who attends Camp Kindle leaves feeling a little more whole, with many new friends and a sense that Camp Kindle is the greatest place on earth.
A one-time donation of $10 will be billed to your mobile phone bill. Message & data rates may apply. Donations are collected for Project Kindle by mobilecause.com. Reply STOP to 85944 to stop. Reply HELP to 85944 for help. For terms, see www.igfn.org/t.
Eva Payne, the organization's Founder and Executive Director was recognized by L'Oréal Paris as a Women Of Worth Honoree and was recognized at a gala event in New York City. L'Oréal Paris donated $2,500 to Camp Kindle, and $2,500 was also donated in her name to The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
Eva Payne was selected out of over 4,000 nominees as a Volvo For Life Award Finalist in 2006 and was awarded $25,000 for Camp Kindle. Again in 2007, Eva was selected as a state finalist.
